It's June and time to really enjoy riding and just hanging out and looking at everyone else's bike. This month I decided to talk about a few new products that have just come out.

The first is the right side drive transmission by Baker. Tires keep getting wider and wider so we keep moving the transmission over to the left to allow room for the tire.. This was fine until we got into 230 ,240, and 250 tires. When you get this wide, the balance of the bikes starts to feel heavy on the left side. This is not a big issue on most bikes, but now the talk of 270 an 280 tires would be impossible to clear a normal transmission. The trans looks the same as a left drive but the pulley comes out the right side. This allows as wide of tire as you want. Most frame companies already build frames for the right side drive trans, so if yo plan to use a huge tire in your next bike build, check it out.

The next product is the starter switch from custom cycle engineering. This product bolts to the side of the end cover. The only difference is that the button in the center to activate the starter. This means you can eliminate all of the starter wiring and clean up the bars. Most customs have about as much wiring as a Model A Ford and the product will cut it down even more.

The third product is the first replacement gas tank I have seen for a 2000 and up Softail. It's an aluminum tank that will fit all carbureted models. You will have to move the tank mounted dash, but it is an awesome looking tank made by Fat Katx Inc.

The last new product is the Big Guns II Exhaust from Samson. The Big Guns Exhaust has been out for 4 years, but they were always blue. Now with the Big Guns II you get full coverage heat shields. I have always felt that Samson had the best bends, the best sound, and the coolest look, but now you won't see them blue.
