Harley's Exciting
new VRod
By Bryan Infusino (September 2001)

I would first like to thank everyone who read our cover story in Action Magazine last month. Next, I want to talk about the new bike that Harley-Davidson has come out with. It's called the V-Rod. It is an offspring of their race bike, the VR1000 which competed in the Superbike series. Harley never won the series, but I feel they did very well to keep up with the series. The V-Rod is still a V-Twin, but it does not have pushrods like every other Harley we have seen. It has an overhead cam motor which looks to be a real performer. The overall look of the V-Rod reminds me of a BMW or Ducati, bit it still has a touch of Harley styling to it. I feel they did a very nice job on the bike, opening a whole new market for the Harley-Davidson. It is a very sporty bike and has the name on the side of it that everyone seems to want to own. The suggested price is listed at $17,995. The horsepower is listed at 115hp, so you should be able to burn the tire off if you wish. I feel this bike will be a very big plus for Harley-Davidson even though I've heard a lot of customers complain about it. I feel it will open a whole new market for the company and keep them alive for another 100 years. I can't wait to ride one!!! |
